Texas METASONO Heated Insole Burn Lawsuit

METASONO Heated Insoles Linked to Fires and Burn Injuries

In July 2026, the CPSC issued a safety warning urging consumers to immediately stop using METASONO and MEATSONO Heated Insoles. The lithium-ion battery inside the insoles can explode and ignite, even when the product is turned off, which posing a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries.

The CPSC said there were 14 reports of fires, explosions, and other thermal incidents involving the insoles. At least 10 reports involved people who suffered burn injuries. Some victims suffered serious 2nd- and/ 3rd-degree burns that required skin grafts.

Is This a Recall?

No. The insoles were made in China by a company doing business as METASONO-US. According to the CPSC, METASONO-US has failed to respond to requests for a recall or product information. Instead, the CPSC decided to issue a public warning to raise awareness about the issue.

What Is the Danger of METASONO Heated Insoles?

Heated insoles are worn inside of laced-up boots and shoes, directly under the foot. When a lithium-ion battery in the heel ignites, the wearer can suffer deep burns before the boot can even be pulled off.

Defective lithium-ion batteries also pose a greater fire hazard than other batteries because they can overheat or ignite during use inside of a boot or show, while charging and plugged in, and even in storage. With these insoles, the battery can fail even when the product is not switched on.

What is the Risk?

The reported and known risks from defective heated insoles include:

• Second-degree burns to the foot and ankle
• Third-degree burns requiring skin grafts and surgery
• Fires that can spread to footwear, clothing, or surroundings

Which Products Are Affected?

The CPSC describes the affected insoles by their appearance and where they were sold. No model number is available. Check for these details:

• Brand name “METASONO” printed on both sides of the insole (also spelled “MEATSONO”)
• Primarily navy blue with a multicolored design across the insole
• A lithium-ion battery built into the heel area
• Operated by a separate remote control
• Sold on Amazon.com and eBay.com from July 2023 through July 2026 for $28 to $70

Where Were They Sold?

METASONO and MEATSONO heated insoles were sold nationwide on Amazon.com and eBay.com. If you still have a pair, the CPSC urges you to stop using them and dispose of them through a local hazardous waste collection center. Do not toss them in the trash, a curbside recycling bin, or a store battery-recycling box.
