UPDATE: JunsYoung Heated Insoles Linked to Burn Hazard
In March 2026, safety officials warned people to stop using JunsYoung Heated Insoles that were sold on Amazon due to the risk of serious injuries, as well as a fire hazard due to the lithium-ion battery overheating and igniting. According to the warning:
CPSC is warning consumers to stop using Junsyoung heated insoles immediately because the internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite while in use, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard.
Heated Insole Lawsuit Filed by Man Severely Burned on Foot
In February 2026, a lawsuit was filed against the manufacturer of Tajarly® Heated Insoles by a man who was severely burned on his foot. The lawsuit was filed by Andrew S. (“Andy”), a man from Idaho who purchased the heated insoles from Amazon.com to use at work.
What Happened?
On February 28, 2024, Andy went to work with the heated insoles in his boots, when “suddenly and without warning, the insoles spontaneously started on fire,” according to his lawsuit.
He was severely burned on his foot, which hospitalized him for 6 days. He underwent several surgeries during his hospital stay. Despite the aggressive treatments, he continues to suffer from long-term injuries.
His lawsuit was filed on February 17, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho — Case No. 1:26-cv-00085-AKB against TAJARLY, a foreign company, and other defendants.
What Are Heated Insoles?
A growing number of lawsuits have been filed by people who were severely burned by heated insoles and heated socks. These popular devices use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery to power heating elements within the insoles or socks, which delivers warmth to a person using the product.
The problem is that lithium-ion batteries can be defective, which poses a significant fire hazard.
Heated insoles that catch on fire or explode inside a user’s shoe or boot can cause severe, devastating burn injuries. By the time a user realizes that the battery is overheating, it may be too late to remove the boot and prevent the battery explosion from causing severe burns.
Safety Warning for Tajarly Heated Insoles
In September 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a Safety Warning for Tajarly Heated Insoles due to a risk of serious burn injuries and fire hazard. According to the CPSC:
“The internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, even when the insoles are turned off, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard. CPSC has received four reports of ignition, fires, and other thermal incidents involving the defective heated insoles resulting in burn injuries, including two incidents that required extended hospital stays.”
How Many People Were Burned?
Tajarly Heated Insoles were linked to 4 reports of people who were burned when the insoles ignited, caught on fire, or overheated. These reports included 2 victims who required “extended hospital stays.”
Can I Get a Refund?
No. The manufacturer of these defective Tajarly Heated Insoles is a company in China that has been “unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or more information about this product.”
Any consumers who own Tajarly Heated Insoles should NOT throw away the lithium-ion battery or device in the general household trash, recycling bins, or used battery recycling boxes at hardware stores.
Instead, the defective heated insoles and lithium-ion battery should be disposed of according to your local laws regarding hazardous waste.
