August 1, 2019 — Dorel Juvenile Group USA has issued a recall for Eddie Bauer and Disney inclined sleepers due to serious safety concerns.
The recall involves the Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Bassinet (model number BT055CSY) and the Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinet (model number BT071DHS).
No injuries or deaths have been reported, but the sleepers have a similar design as other products that are linked to dozens of deaths.
Those other products include the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play, Kids II Rocking Sleepers, and Ultra-Lite Day & Night Play Yard.
The problem with baby sleepers is that babies can roll over from their back to their stomach or side and suffocate against the fabric sides of the sleeper. Very young infants who can’t hold up their head are also at risk of suffocating due to positional asphyxia in an inclined sleeper.
They were sold at Target, Kmart, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and other juvenile product stores nationwide between November 2014 and February 2017 for about $60.
Dorel is asking consumers to immediately stop using the inclined sleepers and contact the company for a refund in the form of a $60 voucher.
