Fisher-Price Recalls Ultra-Lite Play Yard Inclined Sleeper
June 2019 — Fisher-Price announced a voluntary recall for inclined sleeper accessories that were sold with the Ultra-Lite Day & Night Play Yard because of life-threatening safety concerns associated with inclined sleepers.
What is the Problem?
The inclined sleeper for the Ultra-Lite Play Yard is not linked to any injuries or deaths. However, Fisher-Price recalled over 4.7 million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after at least 32 babies died.
Inclined Sleepers Linked to Baby Deaths
Babies can roll over and suffocate against the sides of an inclined sleeper if they are not restrained. Babies can also die under other circumstances in an inclined sleeper, according to Fisher-Price.
For very young infants, inclined sleepers pose a risk of “positional asphyxia,” in which a baby who can’t hold its head up suffocates because their chin touches their chest and cuts off their airway.
What Products Were Recalled?
The recall involves sleeper accessories that were sold with all Fisher-Price Ultra-Lite Day & Night Play Yards with model numbers CBV60, CHP86, CHR06, CJK24, and DJD11.
They were sold nationwide between October 2014 and June 2019 for $90 to $110.
Inclined Sleeper Recall
The recall only includes the inclined sleeper accessory. Consumers can still use the play yard portion of the product without the inclined sleeper attached.
What Should I Do?
Consumers should stop using the inclined sleeper accessory and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher.
