53,000 Generac Pressure Washers Recalled for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Risk
In April 2022, Generac Power Systems recalled more than 53,000 Generac® and DR Power® Electric Start (E-Start) Pressure Washers due to a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. The problem is that the pressure washers can self-start, which poses a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if the unit is in a confined space (such as a garage or shed).
No injuries were reported, but there 9 reports of the pressure washers self-starting and operating without being connected to a water supply. The recall involves the following pressure washers:
- DR Pressure Washer PRO 3100
- 3125 CON GAS PW ES CARB EPA3
- 3125 CON GAS PW ES SPEEDWASH CARB EPA3
Over 1 Million Greenworks® and Powerworks® Pressure Washers Recalled
April 8, 2021 — Hongkong Sun Rise Trading recalled over 1 million Greenworks® and Powerworks® pressure washers after people were seriously injured when the spray gun handles broke during use.
The recalled pressure washers were linked to 15 reports of the connector breaking between the hose and the spray gun handle.
If this occurs, the hose and/or parts of the connector can break off under high pressure and cause serious injuries to the user or people nearby.
Pressure Washer Injuries
The Greenworks® and Powerworks® pressure washers were recalled after 13 people reported injuries when they were hit by broken parts, including 7 people who needed medical treatment for severe injuries, such as:
- Concussions (head injuries)
- Broken bones
- Eye injuries
- Mouth injuries
