CPSC Warns Consumers to Stop Using Junsyoung Heated Insoles

In March 2026, the CPSC issued an urgent product safety warning urging consumers to immediately stop using Junsyoung heated insoles. The CPSC found that the internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite during use, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire. The insoles were sold on Amazon under the brand name “Junsyoung” or seller name “JAMRIC” from July 2023 through March 2024.

What is the Defect?

The defect involves the lithium-ion battery, which can potentially overheat and produce a chain reaction that generates open flames, extreme temperatures, and toxic smoke within seconds. These batteries can reach temperatures far beyond what living tissue can withstand for even a fraction of a second.

The CPSC has issued similar warnings for two other Chinese-manufactured heated insole brands. In July 2025, the agency warned consumers to stop using iHeat heated insoles after receiving 11 reports of fires or explosions, including eight burn injuries. In September 2025, the CPSC issued a second warning covering Tajarly heated insoles after 4 thermal incidents, including 2 that required extended hospital stays.

How Many Texans Are Affected?

The CPSC has confirmed four reports of thermal incidents involving the Junsyoung insoles, resulting in burn injuries including second- and third-degree burns requiring surgery. Potential injuries from a heated insole lithium battery failure include:

  • Second-degree burns with blistering and fluid loss
  • Third-degree (full-thickness) burns requiring skin grafting
  • Permanent nerve damage and chronic pain
  • Scarring and long-term impairment of foot function
  • Loss of income from inability to work in physical occupations

Lawsuits have already been filed over similar products. In February 2026, an Idaho man filed a federal lawsuit after a Tajarly heated insole ignited inside his boot at work, causing severe burns and permanent nerve damage that ended his ability to perform physical labor as a heavy equipment mechanic.

A separate federal lawsuit involves a woman who suffered severe burns requiring emergency treatment after Amazon-sold heated insoles ignited inside her boots. A 2025 medical report published in the Journal of Burn Care & Research documented hundreds of additional burn victims from defective heated insoles. Some of them required surgical skin grafting after heated insole explosions.

Which Products Are Affected?

  • Brand/seller name: “Junsyoung” (on the product) or “JAMRIC” (on the Amazon purchase receipt)
  • Appearance: Black and red insoles with a lithium-ion battery in the heel area; operated by a remote control
  • Sold at: Amazon.com
  • Sale period: July 2023 through March 2024
  • Manufactured in: China

If you are unsure whether your insoles are among the affected products, stop using them immediately and check the CPSC warning at CPSC.gov or report an incident at SaferProducts.gov.Legal Help for Heated Insole Burn Victims in Texas.

What Are Heated Insoles?

Heated insoles are popular across Texas — worn by hunters and guides in the Panhandle and Hill Country, outdoor workers in North Texas, construction crews, and anyone who spends long hours on their feet in cold weather. Marketed as safe and convenient, battery-powered heated insoles have become a go-to gear item in the outdoor sporting community.

But a growing number of reports from burn centers and federal regulators reveals a serious hidden danger: the lithium-ion batteries inside many of these devices can fail catastrophically, causing fires that are trapped against the foot inside an enclosed boot.

What is the Risk?

What makes a lithium-ion battery fire inside footwear uniquely dangerous is how quickly and severely it can injure the wearer. When these batteries enter thermal runaway — a rapid chain reaction in which rising heat generates even more heat — temperatures can spike to 800–1,000 degrees Fahrenheit within seconds.

A third-degree burn can occur from instantaneous skin contact at temperatures far lower than that. In a boot or shoe, heat cannot escape, the wearer may not register the burning in time to react, and removing a laced boot while in agony takes precious time that allows the battery to keep burning against the foot.
