SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper Linked to Risk of Suffocation

January 17, 2020 — Safety officials are warning parents to immediately stop using the SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper because it poses a major suffocation hazard to babies.

Summer Infant Inc. has not yet recalled the SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper, but the company is being pressured to recall the product, according to a safety warning from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

No injuries or deaths have been linked to the SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper, but it is an inclined bassinet that is very similar to other inclined baby sleepers.

Inclined sleepers are linked to at least 73 deaths, according to Consumer Reports. The products are now banned by major retailers, such as Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and Buy Buy Baby.

Millions of baby sleepers were recalled last year, including the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play, Kids II Rocking Sleepers, and inclined bassinets.

The CPSC continues to emphasize that the safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back on a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet, or play yard without any additional blankets, pillows, or other items.
