JBS Ground Beef Recalled for E. Coli
November 17, 2018 — JBS recalled 99,260 pounds of ground beef for possible E. coli contamination, according to the USDA.
The ground beef was produced on October 24, 2018 at JBS USA-owned Swift Beef Co. in Hyrum, Utah. A sample of ground beef that was collected at a further processing establishment tested positive for E. coli O157: H7.
The ground beef was packaged in 2,000-pound pallets and in plastic-wrapped packages of 8 to 10 pounds marked as “Blue Ribbon Beef.”

- Ground Beef 93/07 (93% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42413.
- Ground Beef 85/15 (85% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42415.
- Ground Beef 73/27 (73% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42510.
The ground beef was shipped to retail distributors for further processing, as well as food service distributors for institutional uses, in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
JBS Tolleson Beef Recalled for Salmonella
On October 4, 2018, JBS Tolleson Inc. of Arizona recalled approximately 6.5 million pounds of raw beef items, including ground beef, because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The beef was sold at Walmart, Kroger, and more than 100 other stores under the following brand-names:
- Cedar River Farms Natural
- Comnor Perfect Choice
- Gourmet Burger
- Grass Run Farms Natural
- JBS Generic
- Showcase
- Walmart
According to the outbreak investigation as of November 15, 2018, the recalled beef has been linked to 246 Salmonella illnesses in 25 states, with 59 people hospitalized from August 5, 2018 to October 16, 2018. No deaths were reported.
Consumers who have ground beef labeled with the establishment number “EST. 267” should contact the store where it was purchased to find out if it was recalled. The recalled beef was produced from July 26, 2018 to September 7, 2018, and sold nationwide. Click here to read more.
