Salmonella Food Poisoning

Salmonella infections typically cause fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, and abdominal pain for about 1 week in a healthy adult. In rare cases, infections can be life-threatening or deadly, according to the FDA:

“Infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
