October 21, 2019 — Walmart’s Great Value® pork and turkey sausage patties were recalled nationwide because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
George’s Prepared Foods, of Tennessee, recalled approximately 6,444 pounds of frozen, fully-cooked pork and turkey sausage patties.
There are no confirmed reports of illnesses. The recall was issued after the firm notified the USDA that a third-party cold storage facility inadvertently shipped the products.
The following products are included in the recall:
- Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties — 4.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/16/19 and Lot Code 1091971894.
- Great Value Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties — 24.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/24/19 and Lot Code 1171971897.
- Family Size Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties — 35.6-oz. packages with use-by date of 11/03/19 and Lot Code 1271972894 or use-by date 11/05/19 and Lot Code 1291972894
The packages are marked with Establishment Number “EST. M2206T or P-2260T.”
Salmonella is a bacteria that commonly causes food poisoning illnesses. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever for several days. Most people recover on their own, but some people must be hospitalized due to dehydration or other complications.
