March 20, 2024 — Trader Joe’s stores in Texas and other states have recalled certain bags of 50% Less Sodium Whole Cashews due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.

The recall involves Trader Joes 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews with SKU Number 37884 and Lot No# T12139, T12140, T12141, and T12142.

The cashews were imported from India or Vietnam. No illnesses were reported, but some of the cashews tested positive for Salmonella during routine testing by the FDA during import.

They were sold at Trader Joe’s grocery stores in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, LA, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, and WA.

Healthy people who are infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

Trader Joe’s is urging customers who purchased these cashews to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
