In June 2010, the Judicial Panel on Multi-district Litigation (JPML) centralized Zimmer Durom Cup lawsuits in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. At least 250 lawsuits have been centralized in the litigation, but over 100 cases have already been resolved. Zimmer Holdings Inc. introduced the Zimmer Durom Acetabular Cup in the United States in 2008. In early 2008, surgeons warned that patients were reporting loosening and revision surgery. On July 22, 2008, Zimmer initiated a voluntary recall because instructions for use and surgical technique were inadequate.
