What Happened?
Health officials are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella involving a variety of dietary supplements containing Moringa Leaf Powder. In recent months, several recalls have been issued for products including:
- Super Greens Powder Supplements (sold at Sam’s Club)
- Live It Up Super Greens Powder
- Food To Live® Organic Moringa Leaf Powder
- And other products.
How Many People Got Sick?
As of January 29, 2026, supplements containing Moringa Leaf Powder have been linked to at least 65 cases of Salmonella in 28 states, according to the Outbreak Investigation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At least 14 people were hospitalized due to a severe illness. No deaths were reported.
Outbreak Involves At Least 2 Strains of Salmonella
The outbreak involves at least two strains of Salmonella, according to the FDA:
- Salmonella Newport infections have been linked to Why Not Natural Pure Organic Moringa Green Superfood capsules
- Salmonella Typhimurium infections have been linked to Live It Up® Super Greens Supplements that were recalled in January 2026
Severe Symptoms of Salmonella
Salmonella can be more dangerous for high-risk people, especially children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems. Some people may develop a more severe illnesses that requires medical treatment or hospitalization.
People who consumed these recalled supplements should contact a healthcare provider right away if you have any severe Salmonella symptoms, such as:
- Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
- Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving
- Bloody diarrhea
- So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
