TDF Lawsuit Claims Gilead Delayed Less Toxic Version of HIV Drugs
In May 2018, a lawsuit was filed against Gilead Sciences by patients who claim the drug-maker intentionally delayed development of a less-toxic version of tenofovir (TDF) to maximize profits on drugs like Truvada, while patients developed severe kidney damage, tooth decay, or bone loss.
The lawsuit claims that Gilead knew as far back as 2001 that TDF was “…highly toxic in the doses prescribed and risked permanent and possibly fatal damage to the kidneys and bones.”
Truvada Class Action Lawsuit
The Los Angeles Times reports that a class action lawsuit was filed against Gilead by two men from California with HIV who suffered bone and kidney damage from taking TDF. The class action lawsuit accuses Gilead of creating a medication with dangerous side effects and failing to adequately warn patients about the potential risks.
Truvada Lawsuits
People who took Truvada and developed severe side effects such as kidney failure, dental problems, or bone loss are filling lawsuits against the drug-manufacturer, Gilead Sciences Inc.
Filing a lawsuit may be the only way for individuals who were harmed by Truvada to receive financial compensation for their injuries, medical expenses, and lost wages. Talking to an experienced lawyer is the first step in holding drug-makers accountable and getting financial compensation.
