Truvada is a medication that treats HIV and helps prevent infections. Unfortunately, it has been linked to an increased risk of bone loss, dental problems, and severe kidney side effects.

If you or a loved one was diagnosed with severe bone loss, kidney damage, or tooth decay after taking Truvada for HIV or PREP, you should contact our lawyers immediately. You may be entitled to compensation by filing a lawsuit.
Truvada Class Action Lawsuits
Truvada lawsuits accuse Gilead Sciences of intentionally delaying development of a safer version of the drug to maximize profits. One class action lawsuit was filed in May 2018 by two men from California.
The class action includes everyone in California who used Truvada “from October 26, 2001, through the present, who were personally or whose physician was exposed to Gilead’s misrepresentations.”
Truvada Lawsuits Accuse Gilead of Delaying Safer Drug
Gilead is also facing individual personal injury lawsuits from victims in California who suffered bone and kidney damage as a result of taking Truvada and other HIV drugs that contain TDF.
Lawyers claim that Gilead knew as far back as 2001 that Truvada was “…highly toxic in the doses prescribed and risked permanent and possibly fatal damage to the kidneys and bones,”.
Furthermore, lawsuits claim that Gilead had a significantly safer version of tenofovir called TAF (tenofovir alafenamide) — but Gilead deliberately kept TAF off the market until the patent expired on TDF, in order to maximize profits.
Truvada Linked to Severe Side Effects
Truvada contains an old version of tenofovir called TDF, which must be taken in very high doses to work. As a result, TDF accumulates in the bones and kidneys. It can also cause tooth decay as a result of demineralization and low phosphate levels in the body.

About Class Actions
Class actions are typically filed by a single person on behalf of a much larger group of people with similar legal claims. If compensation is awarded through a settlement or jury verdict, the payout is divided among everyone who joins the class action.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Class action can have major disadvantages for individual people who have very serious injuries, medical expenses, and other damages. This is why it is uncommon for lawyers to file class actions when a lot of people have been seriously injured by a defective medication.
Our law firm is filing individual lawsuits so we can focus on helping our clients seek compensation for their pain and suffering, medical bills, future medical care, permanent injuries, lost income, decreased quality of life, and more.
