Instead of a class action, our lawyers are filing individual lawsuits for Technivie patients who developed worse liver problems, liver failure, or required an organ transplant to prevent death.
Need a Texas Technivie Lawyer? Collen A. Clark is a true advocate for his clients and is passionate about helping Texans that have been injured or wronged. If you or a loved one was diagnosed with liver failure, you should contact our lawyers immediately. You may be entitled to compensation by filing a lawsuit.
FDA Safety Warning for Technivie
In October 2015, the FDA issued a Safety Warning after dozens of people with hepatitis C developed serious liver injuries after taking Technivie or a similar drug called Viekira Pak. The injuries included hepatic decompensation, hepatic failure, liver transplantation or death.
Pre-Existing Liver Problems Are Risk-Factor for Injury
Liver injuries mostly occurred in patients with advanced underlying liver problems or cirrhosis, which means they should not have been taking Technivie. These injuries mostly occurred in the first 1 to 4 weeks of treatment.
Who Should Not Take Technivie?
Technivie is not approved for patients with cirrhosis, which is poor liver function due to scarring. The label on Technivie was recently updated to contraindicated it in patients who have moderate-to-severe hepatic impairment — a common complication of advanced hepatitis C.
Our lawyers are concerned that AbbVie, Inc., the manufacturer of Technivie, may have failed to warn patients about serious side effects. Technivie can cure 90% of adults with hepatitis C, but it is not approved for most patients who have advanced liver damage because it can worse liver problems or cause liver failure, transplant or death.
Technivie Class Action Lawyers
Lawyers have already filed several class actions for Technivie, but not for people with liver injuries — instead, they were filed against insurance companies who refused to pay for Technivie (or other hepatitis C medications) unless the patient was sick enough to qualify.
$300 Million Class Action Settlement
There have been no settlements yet for people with liver injuries from Technivie, but several insurance companies have been forced to pay mega-million dollar settlements for refusing to cover Technivie. The largest Technivie settlement amount was a $300 million payout with United HealthCare — the nation’s largest health insurer — in September 2016.
What is the problem?
The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm in Texas, but we are not filing a Technivie class action against AbbVie. Instead, we are filing individual personal injury lawsuits for people who developed more severe liver injuries after taking Technivie.
Serious Side Effects of Technivie
- Liver injury
- Inflammation (acute hepatitis)
- Fibrosis of the liver
- Cirrhosis (decompensated or compensated)

About Class Actions
Class actions lawsuits are filed by a large group of people with similar legal claims. Any compensation or payout awarded to the plaintiffs is typically shared with everyone who signs up for the class action.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Class actions are not usually filed on behalf of people who were injured by severe side effects of a dangerous medication. This is because people with major injuries are usually seeking far more compensation than the average class action plaintiff.
Our lawyers specialize in helping people who were injured by defective medications file lawsuits. If your liver injuries got worse when you took Technivie for hepatitis C, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit for your injury, medical expenses, permanent injuries, and more.
