Sweet Cream Mini Pastry Salmonella Outbreak

Health officials are warning people about an outbreak of Salmonella that is linked to Sweet Cream Mini Pastries. Dozens of people got sick after eating pastries that were imported to the U.S. by Importations Piu Che Dolci Inc. of Quebec, Canada.

How Many People Got Sick?

As of January 29, 2025, a total of 18 people in the U.S. and 69 people in Canada have been infected with Salmonella Enteritidis after eating mini pastries, according to the FDA. One sick person in the U.S. has been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

Health officials in Canada are also warning people not to eat D. Effe T. Lemon Delight and D. Effe T. Tartlet with Forest Fruit products, according to the Public Health Notice.

What is the Risk?

The FDA investigated an illness in the U.S. and determined that the sick person was served recalled Sweet Cream Mini Pastries at a restaurant before they got sick.

Health officials said the “recalled product should no longer be available for sale, and there does not appear to be a continued public health risk for consumers.”

What Happened?

The recall involves ready-to-eat mini pastries that were manufactured in Italy and imported into the U.S. by Importations Piu Che Dolci Inc. of Quebec, Canada.

The company has initiated a recall of all Sweet Cream® Mini Pastry products with Best-By Dates from 2025/06/17 through 2025/11/15 (June 17- November 15, 2025).

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled mini pastries were served at catered events and sold at food service locations, such as:

  • Bakeries
