Ridstar Hit With Second CPSC Warning After E-Bike Wheels Detach

In June 2026, the CPSC issued yet another warning for Ridstar E-Bikes, urging consumers to immediately stop using Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite e-bikes because the front wheel can detach without warning while riding.

The agency said there were 32 reports of the front wheel detaching, including 31 reports of people who suffered serious injuries. Some of those injuries involved:

  • Concussions
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts
  • Scrapes
  • Bruises

Can I Get a Refund?

No. This is not a recall, so not refund or replacement e-bike is available for consumers. Instead, safety officials said the manufacturer based in China, Huizhou Xingqishi Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., has been “unresponsive to the CPSC’s requests for information about the e-bikes or a recall.”

What Is the Wheel Defect?

Because Ridstar e-bikes can reach speeds well over 20 mph, a front wheel separating mid-ride gives a rider almost no chance to brace for the fall. No deaths have been reported in connection with this defect, but many of the reported injuries are very serious, and an e-bike crash at high speed can be deadly.

Which Ridstar E-Bikes Are Affected?

Consumers can identify these e-bikes by the following:

  • Brand: Ridstar, printed directly on the battery
  • Wheel defect models: Q20 and Q20 Lite
  • Fire defect models: Q20 and Q20 Pro
  • Color: Black
  • Manufacturer: Huizhou Xingqishi Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., China

Where Were They Sold?

Ridstar e-bikes were sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Ridstar.net, and AliExpress.us. If you own one of these e-bikes, stop riding it immediately. For updates, visit the CPSC warning page.

How Many People Were Injured?

Nationwide, the CPSC has confirmed 31 injuries linked to the wheel defect, plus 1 burn injury and 5 smoke inhalation reports linked to the earlier fire defect. No Texas-specific case count has been confirmed.

Ridstar E-Bike Safety Warning for Battery Fire Hazard

The previous warning for Ridstar e-bikes was announced by the CPSC in March 2026, when safety officials warned owners of Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Pro e-bikes that the batteries and wiring could catch on fire.

There were 11 reports of fire, including 1 burn injury, 5 reports of smoke inhalation, and 2 reports of property damage totaling more than $40,000.

Has Anyone Sued Over a Ridstar E-Bike?

Yes. In April 2026, a man from Oregon who was seriously injured in an e-bike crash filed a lawsuit against Amazon in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.

According to his lawsuit, the front wheel of his Ridstar Q20 detached while he was riding at about 20 mph. He suffered severe injuries, including facial fractures, a dental deformity, and a jaw injury that required surgery and dental implants.

The lawsuit alleges Amazon knew about similar reports from other customers before the incident and continued selling the e-bike anyway. The plaintiff is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for strict product liability, negligence, and recklessness.
