Costco Recalls Peaches for Salmonella Risk

Costco recalled boxes of peaches under the brand-names Prima® and Wawona® due to a risk of Salmonella. The recalled peaches have pack-dates from May 27, 2020 to August 1, 2020, including the following items:

  • White Peaches (Item #89407)
  • Organic White Peaches (Item #17895)
  • Yellow Peaches (Item #45518)
  • Organic Yellow Peaches (Item #23193)

Peaches Recalled in Texas After Salmonella Outbreak

In August 2020, Prima® Wawona recalled loose and bagged peaches in Texas and other states after an outbreak of Salmonella food poisoning illnesses.

No illnesses have been reported in Texas, as of August 27, 2020.

Nationwide, health officials have reported 78 cases of Salmonella in 12 states, with 23 people hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

As of August 27, the states and case counts are: Connecticut (1), Iowa (8), Kentucky (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (17), Minnesota (23), Missouri (1), New Jersey (7), New York (9), Pennsylvania (2), Virginia (3), and Wisconsin (5).

Recall for Bulk/Loose Peaches

The expanded recall includes bulk, loose peaches that were sold from June 1 through August 3, typically in bins where shoppers could pick their own fruit. They may have stickers with PLU numbers: 4037, 4038, 4044, 4401, 94037, 94038, 94044, 94401.
