UPDATE: Another Nutri-Pot Lawsuit Filed Against NuWave LLC

In October 2024, yet another lawsuit was filed against NuWave LLC by a person who was burned while using a Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker. The lawsuit was filed by a woman from Kansas who was burned when she opened the lid and scalding-hot food and liquid blew out of the pot.

In her lawsuit, she accuses NuWave of failing to warn consumers about the burn hazards, and continuing to advertise the “Sure-Lock® Safety System” despite numerous reports of injuries when the safety feature failed to lock the lid until it was safe to open.

According to her complaint:

“Plaintiff is aware of at least 26 incidents stemming from NuWave’s defective pressure cookers prior to the incident that resulted in her injuries. Some of these incidents occurred as early as December 2016.”

NuWave Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Filed by Chef in Louisiana

In December 2016, a NuWave Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed by a chef from Louisiana who was severely burned when it exploded food all over his face, chest, and arms in December 2015.

He claims that he released the pressure valve, but the NuWave pressure cooker exploded when he opened the lid. He suffered painful burn injuries that resulted in months of rehabilitation and medical bills.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana — Case Number 2:16-cv-17126.

Woman Reports Exploding NuWave Pressure Cooker

In July 2018, a woman filed a complaint with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission after her NuWave 6Q Electric Pressure Cooke exploded. No one was injured, but she said the lid suddenly exploded off the pot and hit the ceiling.

NuWave Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker

One of the most popular products sold by NuWave LLC is the Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker, an electric pressure cooker that is advertised as having “safety features” such as the Sure-Lock® Safety System.

It is supposed to prevent explosions by locking the lid onto the pot until the pressure is safely released. However, the Nutri-Pot has come under scrutiny after consumers reported that it malfunctioned and exploded.
