Fresh-Pak Apple Recall
On December 22, 2017, Fresh-Pak, Inc., of Detroit, Michigan recalled certain red/green apple slices that were supplied by Jack Brown Produce Inc. due to a risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recalled apple slices were distributed by Meijer and other retailers in fruit trays and pre-made salads in Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The risk of Listeria contamination was discovered during routine testing by Nybland Orchards on a sample of gala apples.
The recalled apple slices come in 2.2-oz, 2.5-oz, 9-oz, and 7-oz bags, or plastic packages, as well as 3-lb. bags. The products are marked with the following information:

Meijer Apple Slices Recalled for Listeria Risk
On December 20, 2017, as a result of the recall by Fresh-Pak Inc., Meijer recalled certain salads and fruit trays that may contain apple slices that are contaminated with Listeria.

Listeria Food Poisoning
The food poisoning bacteria Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. The highest risk is for young children, older adults, people with weak immune systems, and pregnant women.
