What is the problem?
Monsanto’s Expedite® Herbicide contains glyphosate, which is the same weed-killing chemical found in Roundup® and dozens of other weed-killers. The problem is that studies have found higher rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma among farm-workers in the U.S., Canada, and Sweden who used glyphosate herbicides on a routine basis.
Does Glyphosate Cause Cancer?
The studies linking glyphosate and cancer led to it being upgraded to a “probable human carcinogen” in March 2015 by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
What is Expedite® Herbicide?
Expedite® Grass & Weed Herbicide is a product that has been manufactured by Monsanto since the early 1990s. The active ingredient is glyphosate (18.3%), an herbicide that is used to kill broadleaf weeds, grassy plants, woody brush, trees, and more.
Monsanto Ordered to Pay $289 Million to Cancer Victim
Monsanto is now facing over 4,000 lawsuits from people with cancer who used glyphosate-based herbicides. One of the first lawsuits to go to trial ended in a $289 million jury award to a groundskeeper from California with severe non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Glyphosate Cancer Lawsuits
Monsanto is accused of failing to provide adequate warning labels on Expedite® and other glyphosate-based herbicides about the potential risk of cancer. Lawyers claim that Monsanto has known for years about the risk, and yet marketed products as “safer than table salt.”
