Organic Elderberries Recalled for Salmonella Risk
October 29, 2020 — Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc., of Lakewood, Colorado, recalled Natural Grocers® 4-oz. Organic Whole Elderberries because they may contain Salmonella bacteria.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported. Instead, the company was notified by a supplier of a possible risk of Salmonella bacteria in the product.
What Products Were Recalled?
The recalled products are packaged in clear plastic bags weighing 4-ounces with the “Natural Grocers” label.
The recall only includes packages with the following pack dates: 20-216, 20-225, 20-246, 20-265, and 20-281.
Where in Texas Were The Recalled Elderberries Sold?
Natural Grocers recalled Organic Whole Elderberries from 25 stores in Texas. The stores are located in Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Coppell, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, Hurst, Keller, Longview, Lubbock, Midland, San Antonio, Temple, Tyler, Wichita Falls.
The recall affects a total of 159 Natural Grocers stores in 20 states, including Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
