Conair Recalls Cuisinart Wire Grill Brushes Over Ingestion Hazard

Conair and the CPSC announced the Cuisinart grill brush recall on July 2, 2026. The recall covers roughly 1.7 million metal wire bristle brushes that can shed a tiny metal wire onto food, where it may be swallowed and injure the throat or digestive tract.

The recall follows two even larger wire brush recalls earlier in 2026, which shows that brushes shedding metal bristles is a larger problem. Because Cuisinart grill brushes were for as little as $8, a recalled model could be tucked in cabinets and on patios across Texas.

What Makes These Grill Brushes Dangerous?

The hazard is easy to miss. A wire bristle is tiny and it easily blends into the hot grill grate. The person doing the grilling may not be able to see it. And if the wire gets stuck inside a burger, steak, or vegetables, anyone who eats the food may accidentally swallow the wire.

According to the CPSC warning:

“Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.”

After a person swallows one of these wires, it can get stuck in their throat, or move down into their stomach and intestines until it gets embedded in the body. Doctors sometimes have to use a scope or perform surgery to pull the bristle out before it damages the digestive tract.

How Many People Have Been Hurt?

Conair has acknowledged at least 54 reports of bristles detaching from the recalled brushes. Three of those reports came from people who said they needed medical attention to remove the bristle from their throat or digestive tract.

There may underestimate the actual number of incidents Swallowing a wire-bristle is an unexpected injury, easy to misdiagnose, and many people never connect a sore throat or stomach pain to the grill brush they used at a weekend cookout.

Which Cuisinart Grill Brushes Are Recalled?

The recall includes 8 models of Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes with black plastic, stainless steel, or wood handles. The word “Cuisinart” is stamped on the handle.

You can look for the model number, which is listed on the packaging:

  • Triple Bristle Grill Cleaning Brush (CCB-100)
  • 4-in-1 Grill Cleaning Brush with Stainless Steel Wire Bristles (CCB-4125)
  • BBQ Grill Cleaning Brush and Scraper, 16.5″ Stainless Steel (CCB-5014)
  • Triple Bristle Grill Brush SS Bristles (CCB-6450)
  • 2-In-1 Grill Brush Bristle/Coil (CCB-8012)
  • Pizza Stone Cleaning Brush (CCB-4114)
  • Wood Grill Cleaning Brush, 18.5″ with Pakka Wood Handle (CCB-W2)
  • Steam Clean Grill Brush (CSBS-777)

Some of the brushes also came packaged inside Cuisinart grill tool sets, including the Premium Grill 10 Piece Set (CGS-2010), the 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set (CGS-W13), the 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set (CGS-5014), and the 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set (CGS-5020).

Where Were They Sold in Texas?

From June 2009 through March 2026, these brushes were sold at stores like Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross and online at Amazon.com and Cuisinart.com, priced at just $8 to $20. All three of those chains run dozens of stores across Texas, from Houston and Dallas to San Antonio, Austin, and the Rio Grande Valley.

Because these brushes were on shelves for more than 15 years, a recalled model could be sitting in a Texas garage or backyard right now. Owners should stop using the brush and request a full refund from Conair through the Cuisinart grill brush recall page or the CPSC recall notice.

A Pattern of Wire Grill Brush Recalls

This is not the first wire grill brush pulled from the market this year. In February 2026, the CPSC announced a recall of 3.2 million Weber grill brushes. Our firm is reviewing claims involving the Texas Weber grill brush.

A month later, more than 10.2 million of Nexgrill grill brushes with metal wire bristles were recalled for the identical hazard.
