CPSC Recall of Weber Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes
On February 26, 2026, the CPSC announced a recall for about 3.2 million Weber grill brushes due to an injury hazard.
The CPSC urged consumers to immediately stop using the recalled grill brushes because the metal grill-brush bristles can detach onto the grill or into food, where they may be accidentally swallowed.
What is the Problem with Weber Grill Brushes?
Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes, stick to the grill grates or to food, and be swallowed by consumers. This poses a risk of serious internal injuries. In some cases, the victim may need to have surgery to remove the bristles from their digestive tract or throat.
According to the recall notice:
“Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes, stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.”
How Many People Were Injured?
Weber said it had received 38 complaints and negative reviews from consumers who said the small wire bristles detached from the recalled grill brushes. That includes 4 consumers who swallowed metal bristles and needed medical treatment to remove the bristles from their digestive tract or throat.
Which Weber Grill Brushes Are Recalled?
The recall involves Weber® grill brushes with metal wire-bristles. They have plastic or wood handles between 12 and 21 inches long.
The grill brushes were sold in various styles, including “triangle grill brushes,” which are products with the bristles arranged around an open triangular frame. The recall also includes traditional grill brushes with a rectangular head, with the bristles arranged on the underside of the head.
The affected model numbers are:
- 6277
- 6278
- 6463
- 6464
- 6493
- 6494
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled grill brushes were sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Target, Amazon and Weber.com from 2011 through 2026 for between $10 and $17. The products have also appeared on eBay.
What Should You Do?
You should immediately stop using the recalled grill brushes and contact Weber for a free replacement grill brush, which is a “cold-cleaning” brush with nylon (plastic) bristles.
Weber is providing a free replacement cold-cleaning nylon bristle grill brush. To request one, contact Weber toll-free at 877-597-9588, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or visit weberbrushrecall.expertinquiry.com, or go to weber.com and click “Recall Notice” at the bottom of the page.
