In May 2024, ALDI stores in Texas and dozens of other states announced a voluntary recall for Happy Farms® Cream Cheese products that may be contaminated with Salmonella.

What ALDI Stores Recalled Cream Cheese?
The recalled cream cheese items were sold at ALDI in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
HyVee Cream Cheese Recalls
In May 2024, Hy-Vee grocery stores in the Midwest recalled two varieties of cream cheese due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall involves certain Hy-Vee Whipped Cream Cheese Spread, Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread, Hy-Vee To Go Cookies & Cream Mix, and Hy-Vee Cookies & Cream Mix.
These items were distributed to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market locations – as well as Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores – in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
What is Salmonella?
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning infections. Most people who are infected experience diarrhea (may be bloody), fever, and stomach cramps. Some people also have nausea, vomiting, or a headache. These symptoms usually start within 6 hours to 6 days after eating contaminated food. The illness usually lasts for about a week.
Should I Call The Doctor?
According to a CDC, you should call the doctor if you have:
- Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
- Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving
- Bloody stools
- Prolonged vomiting that prevents you from keeping liquids down
- Signs of dehydration, such as:
- Making very little urine
- Dry mouth and throat
- Dizziness when standing up
