Overview

Cialis is a prescription drug for men with erectile dysfunction. It works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which increases blood-flow to the penis.

In recent years, a number of studies have linked PDE5-inhibition and melanoma. These studies suggest that erectile dysfunction drugs could increase the invasiveness and speed the development of melanoma.

Viagra — which also works by inhibiting PDE5 — was linked to an 84% increased risk of melanoma in a study from 2014.

Cialis Lawsuits

Eli Lilly & Co. is facing a growing number of Cialis lawsuits from men with melanoma. In August 2016, seven lawsuits were filed by men who say the drug-maker failed to warn them about the risk.

Cialis Lawsuits Centralized in MDL

In December 2016, judges centralized all federal Cialis lawsuits involving melanoma into Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2691) in the Northern District of California under U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg. The same MDL involves hundreds of Viagra melanoma lawsuits against Pfizer.

What is Melanoma?

Melanoma is an aggressive type of skin cancer that will be diagnosed in an estimated 76,000 Americans. About 10,000 die from melanoma every year. It is important to check your body and moles for symptoms of melanoma, such as:

  • Asymmetrical shape
  • Uneven border
  • Multiple colors
  • Larger than 1/4-inch in diameter
  • Grows or changes over time
  • Bleeding, itching, or crusting

What is the problem?

The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm in Texas. However, we are not filing a Cialis class action. Lawsuits have already been filed, but they are individual lawsuits by men with melanoma.

About Class Actions

Class actions are great when a lot of people want refunds for buying a defective product. Everyone joins together and collectively seeks compensation. Any payout is divided equally among everyone in the class action after lawyers take a percentage.

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action

Class actions are not designed to maximize compensation for individuals with the worst injuries. Instead, they maximize efficiency when a lot of people have relatively minor legal claims.

The problem with class actions is that members may have to accept a “low-ball” settlement or higher attorneys’ fees. Our lawyers file individual lawsuits so we can help our clients maximize compensation for their injury, medical expenses, permanent injuries, and more.
