BISSELL Recalls 1.7 Million OmniReach Steam Cleaners
On April 9, 2026, BISSELL recalled more than 1.7 million Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners due to a burn hazard. According to the CPSC recall notice, the attachments on these steam cleaners can come off during use, allowing hot water or steam to spray onto consumers, posing a burn hazard.
BISSELL Steam Cleaners Linked to 161 Burn Injuries
The CPSC received 206 reports of hot water or steam discharging unexpectedly from the attachments, including 161 confirmed burn injuries and at least one second-degree burn.
These are nationally reported figures; the actual number of Texans affected is not separately confirmed, though the products were sold at Target, Walmart, and other stores with a wide Texas presence.
The recalled steam cleaners were sold at Target, Walmart, and other stores, as well as online at bissell.com, Amazon.com, HSN, and other websites from October 2024 through March 2026, for between $9 and $55.
Which Products Are Being Recalled?
This recall involves BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach Steam Cleaners and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners sold between October 2024 and March 2026. The model numbers are printed on the bottom of the device. Affected model numbers are listed on the CPSC recall page.
This is a separate and distinct recall from the July 2024 recall of the older BISSELL Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaner models. If you purchased a BISSELL steam cleaner at any point in the past two years, you should verify whether your specific model is included in either recall. BISSELL’s recall registration site is BISSELL.com/steamshotrecall.
How BISSELL Steam Cleaners Are Burning People
BISSELL steam cleaners heat water into high-pressure steam and force it through an attachment nozzle for cleaning. In the recalled OmniReach and Omni models, the attachments can detach during use, creating an opening through which scalding hot water or steam can spray unexpectedly onto the person using the device or anyone nearby.
Steam and hot water burns (also called scalds) are among the most common and painful types of burn injuries. Second-degree burns, which were confirmed in at least one reported incident, damage deeper layers of skin and may require medical treatment, dressing changes, and in some cases skin grafting.
BISSELL’s History of Steam Cleaner Recalls
This is the second major BISSELL steam cleaner recall in less than two years. In July 2024, BISSELL recalled approximately 3.2 million older Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners that were sold since 2008 after 183 reports of hot water or steam escaping from the product, including 157 burn injuries.
The defect in that recall involved water or steam escaping from the unit itself. The 2026 OmniReach recall involves a different mechanism: a detaching attachment.
Together, these two recalls cover nearly 5 million BISSELL steam cleaners sold to consumers across Texas and the rest of the country. The Clark Firm, LLP has a dedicated page for the 2024 BISSELL Steam Cleaner recall as well.
Legal Help for Texans Burned by BISSELL
Texans across Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth, and beyond purchased BISSELL steam cleaners at Target and Walmart locations statewide. If you were burned by a recalled BISSELL OmniReach or Omni steam cleaner, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries beyond what BISSELL’s recall remedy provides.
A product liability lawsuit can seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, scarring, and other damages that a simple refund does not cover. The sooner you contact a lawyer, the better — evidence should be preserved early, including the product, proof of purchase, and medical records.
