March 22, 2024 — A lawsuit has been filed against Sunbeam Products by two people who were both burned by a Sunbeam CrockPot Pressure Cooker.
The plaintiffs are a married couple from Bonney Lake, Washington, who allege that they were seriously burned by a Sunbeam CrockPot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cooker (Model Code K215JN).
In November 2022, while they were using the pressure cooker to make food, “its lid opened while the contents were under pressure. The scalding hot contents forcefully erupted, which caused Plaintiff serious burn injuries,” according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit includes graphic photos of their burn injuries, including her face, neck, chest, shoulders, and hand. Her husband also suffered extensive burns and blistering on his arm.
The lawsuit blames Sunbeam Products for selling a defective pressure cooker with misleading statements about safety.
The company previously recalled about 915,000 CrockPot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers in November 2020 after at least 99 people suffered burn injuries.
Their pressure cooker lawsuit was filed on March 14, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Tacoma) — Case Number 3:24-cv-05208.
