July 26, 2017 — Polaris is recalling 16,800 of the RZR 170 off-road vehicles from the 2015-2017 model-years because fuel can leak and hit and electrical spark, posing a fire hazard.
The recall involves all of the 2015, 2016, and 2017 model-year RZR 170 recreational off-road vehicles (ROVs). According to Polaris:
“The fuel tank neck can crack or the wiring harness can overheat or short circuit, posing fuel leak and fire hazards.”
Polaris has received 4 reports of fires, 102 reports of cracked fuel tank necks, and 28 reports of burning, smoking, melted and/or shorted wires. No injuries have been linked to the recall.
They were sold nationwide at Polaris dealers between February 2015 and July 2017 for $4,600 to $4,800.
