October 3, 2019 — In response to a nationwide recall for read-to-eat chicken by Tip Top Poultry, another recall has been issued by Lipari Foods for chicken salad & chicken salad sandwiches.
Lipari Foods recalled chicken salad items in 15 states due to a potential risk of contamination with Listeria bacteria.
Lipari Foods shipped the recalled items after August 25, 2019. The recall involves the following products:
- Lipari Old Tyme Bulk Chicken Salad
- Lipari Old Tyme Bulk Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad
- Premo Chicken Salad Wedge Sandwiches
- Fresh Grab Chicken Salad Wedge Sandwiches
- Premo Signature Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad on Croissant
Lipari Foods distributed the chicken salad items to foodservice and retail stores in Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
No illnesses have been reported. However, Listeria infections can cause severe food poisoning, meningitis (brain inflammation), pregnancy complications, stillbirth, miscarriage, or death.
The short-term symptoms of a Listeria infection can include
fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, or abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
