January 30, 2024 — A class action lawsuit has been filed against Best Buy from a man in Georgia who purchased a recalled Insignia Pressure Cooker.
The plaintiff alleges that his Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cooker is “defective, dangerous, inoperable, and worthless.”
His pressure cooker was recalled by Best Buy in October 2023 because the markings on the inner pot are incorrect, which could lead to consumers over-filling the pot.
There were at least 31 reports of explosions due to over-filling the pot, according to Best Buy. At least 17 people suffered burn injuries, including 2nd-degree and severe 3rd-degree burns, the recall warned.
The class action is seeking to represent people nationwide in the U.S. who bought a recalled model of Insignia Pressure Cooker from Best Buy. The recall includes the following models:
- Insignia 6-qt. Multi-Cooker: NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, NS-MC60SS9-C
- Insignia 8-qt. Multi-Cooker: NS-MC80SS9, NS-80SS9-C
- Inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9, sold separately as replacements.
The Insignia Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on January 5, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia — Case Number 4:24-cv-00007-WMR.
