January 24, 2020 — Five Star Foods Inc. recalled Sham Gardens® Excellent Tahina because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Five Star Food Inc., of Michigan, recalled about 100 cases of Excellent Tahina (800-g; Product Code TAH806SG) and Excellent Tahina (400-g; Product Code TAH400SG).
The expiration date (Best By Nov 2020) is printed on the lid.
The product was distributed in Texas, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Florida, North Dakota, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Other recalls have recently been issued for tahini, which is an ingredient in tahina sauce.
No illnesses have been reported. The recall was issued after a random sample tested positive for Salmonella, according to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
