December 6, 2017 — West Elm, a division of Williams-Sonoma, Inc., of San Francisco, California, is recalling approximately 43,000 of their Industrial Task Table Lamps due to an electrical shock hazard.
The problem is that the adjustable joint can cut a wire inside the lamp, posing a risk of electrical shock.
According to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):
The electrical wire that runs through the lamps can be cut or fray by the lamp’s adjustable joint, posing a risk of electric shock to consumers.”
The table lamps are metal and have an on/off switch, an adjustable metal arm, an adjustable head, and some models have USB ports in the base. All lamps with a USB port in the base are being recalled.
