February 11, 2026 — A woman who was burned by a Farberware Pressure Cooker has filed a lawsuit against Walmart for selling a product with defective safety mechanisms..
The lawsuit was filed by Taylor M., a woman from Illinois who was burned in January 2024 while using a pressure cooker from Walmart.
The incident specifically involved a Farberware 7-in-1 Digital Programmable 6-Quart Pressure Cooker (Model No. WM-CS6004W), which was sold exclusively at Walmart.
According to her lawsuit, she was seriously burned when scalding-hot food blew out of the pot as a result of the lid “suddenly and unexpectedly” exploding off the pressure cooker’s pot during use.
She suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries,” for which she is now seeking compensation for her medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, decreased enjoyment of life, and other damages.
Her lawsuit accuses Walmart of failing to warn consumers about the serious risk of burn injuries from the pressure cooker.
The lawsuit cites the Owner’s Manual for the product, which includes statements about safety features that supposedly would lock the lid until it was safe to open. For example, the Owner’s Manual states:
“Lid (22): Mechanical safety feature that locks that lid in place with the inner ring, once enough pressure builds up in the appliance. Lid can only be removed once pressure level lowers to required levels.”
Her lawsuit was filed against Walmart on January 13, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois (Urbana Division) — Case Number 2:26-cv-02019-CSB-EIL.
