Wyze Labs Linked to Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Recall
In June 2026, Wyze Labs voluntarily issued a recall for approximately 321,360 Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras in the U.S. due to fire and burn hazards. According to the CPSC, the recall applies to cameras purchased on or before April 3, 2026.
What Is the Fire and Burn Risk?
The cameras were recalled after reports of overheating, exploding, igniting, and burning people. Lithium-ion battery fires can spread quickly and reach extreme temperatures within seconds. According to the CPSC warning:
“The recalled Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras’ incorrect assembly instructions can lead consumers to accidentally puncture the lithium‑ion battery’s metal casing, causing the battery to rapidly overheat, posing a risk of serious injury or property damage from fire and burn hazards.”
The camera comes with two different screw types: 1) Short pan-head machine screws are intended to attach the solar panel bracket to the top of the camera, and 2) Long flat-head wood screws are intended only for mounting the unit to a wall or other surface.
If consumers use the wrong screws to attach the solar panel to the camera, the long screws can penetrate the brass inserts and puncture the lithium-ion battery.
Which Wyze Cameras Are Being Recalled?
The recall only involves specific Wyze security cameras with the following information:
- Wyze Solar Cam Pan security camera, model WYZESCPWH, white, with motorized pan-and-tilt and an integrated solar panel
- The Model number is located on the back of the camera
- Manufactured in China and imported by Wyze Labs, Inc., of Kirkland, Washington

According to the CPSC, consumers should stop using the cameras immediately and visit the Wyze recall page to determine whether your camera is included in the recall. If so, Wyze is offering a free replacement camera, a full refund, or a gift card.
