Woolite Recalled for Bacteria Infection Risk
In March 2025, about 16,200 bottles of Woolite were recalled due to a risk of bacterial infections that could become serious or require hospitalization.
Was My Laundry Detergent Recalled?
The recall involves Woolite Delicates Laundry Detergent in 50-fluid-ounce bottles with Lot Codes S24364, S24365 and S24366. They were sold exclusively on Amazon.com in January 2025.
What is the Problem?
The recalled bottles of Woolite Delicates Laundry Detergent may be contaminated with bacteria, such as Pseudomonas oleovorans. No infections were reported, but there is a risk of serious infections.
Healthy people have a lower risk, but some people may need medical treatment or hospitalization. This bacteria can get into the body through your eyes or broken skin, according to the recall:
“People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.”
What is Pseudomonas?
Pseudomonas bacteria are found widely in soil and water. Some types are also resistant to multiple antibiotics. Infections with antibiotic-resistant bacteria can be life-threatening, especially for people with weakened immune systems or other risk-factors.
What Should I Do?
Customers should check their bottles of Woolite laundry detergent for the recalled Lot Codes S24364, S24365 and S24366, which can be found at the top of the back of the bottle.
If your laundry detergent is being recalled, do not use it. To get a refund, write your name and “Recalled” in permanent marker on the back of the product, then take a photo with the UPC and lot code visible, and email the photo to ConsumerCare_USA@reckitt.com.
You can also visit the recall website at https://www.woolite.us/Voluntary-Recall/ for more information.
After you receive a refund, you should dispose of the product in the trash with the lid tightly sealed. Do not empty the bottle or recycle it.
