Werner Multi-Max Pro Ladders Recalled for Fall Hazard
In August 2025, Werner announced a recall for certain 20-ft. and 24-ft. Multi-Max Pro Ladders because the locking mechanism can get jammed and fail to fully lock into place when a user tries to adjust the height of the ladder, which poses a fall hazard.
What is the Risk?
If a person tries to climb an adjustable-height ladder with the locking mechanism not fully locked into place, the ladder height may suddenly drop down. This poses a fall hazard and a risk of other severe injuries.
How Many People Were Injured?
Werner said it received 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of injuries including:
- Bruises
- Lacerations (cuts)
- Head injuries
- Broken bones
- Fractures to the wrist, leg and ribs
Werner Ladders Sold Exclusively at Home Depot
The recalled Werner Multi-Max Pro Ladders were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide and online at HomeDepot.com between November 2021 and February 2024 for about $200 to $281.
How To Identify Recalled Ladders
The recalled ladders can be identified by Model Number ALMP-20IAA or ALMP-24IAA on the product label. They include a long black rope.
According to Werner: “Model ALMP-16IAA and Model ALMP-18IAA Multi-Max Pro Ladders currently offered for sale have a completely different design and ARE NOT included in this recall.”
The recalled ladders came in 20-ft. and 24-ft. heights. They were silver with a blue top and a blue label on the side rail. The label has “Werner” and “MULTI MAX PRO,” the size, and model number.
What Should I Do?
Customers who purchased a Werner Multi-Max Pro Ladder should stop using it and check to see if it is part of the recall.
If so, you can register for the recall and upload a photo at http://www.wernerco.com/recalls. Werner will send instructions on how to properly dispose of the ladder. Once disposal is complete, Werner will send a full refund in the form of a physical check.
