May 27, 2025 — Walmart has announced a recall for cups of sliced cucumbers that were made in select stores in Texas.
No illnesses were linked to the products at Walmart, but the cucumbers were supplied to many retailers and other companies.
They were recalled by Bedner Growers after dozens of Salmonella illnesses were reported in 15 states, according to the FDA Outbreak Investigation in May 2025.
Walmart recalled their store-brand Marketside® Fresh-Cut Cucumber Slices that were sold in select Walmart locations in Texas. These cucumbers were grown in Florida and recalled by Bedner Growers.
The cucumber slices were sold in various weights (average unit weight of 1.5-pounds) in clear plastic cups. The cups were labeled with a white sticker that has UPC/PLU 62969. The recall involves all cups of Fresh-Cut Cucumber Slices with date codes up to 5/24/2025.
Walmart said: “To date, no illnesses have been reported for the recalled Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices.”
The FDA is urging consumers not to eat the recalled cucumbers due to the Salmonella outbreak and the risk of severe infections:
“Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children younger than five, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to have severe infections.”
