Vornado Recalls SRTH Tower Heaters After Multiple Fires
On June 4, 2026, the CPSC announced a voluntary recall for about 255,000 Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters that have been sold since August 2013. There were 32 reports of overheating, 8 reports of fires, and 1 report of a smoke inhalation injury.
The recall covers all units of the SRTH Small Room Tower Heater, a product that was manufactured in China and imported by Vornado Air, LLC of Andover, Kansas.
The heaters were sold for $40 to $50 at Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, ACE Hardware, Vornado.com, and Amazon.com from August 2013 through May 2026.
What Is the Fire Hazard?
According to the CPSC, the SRTH heater’s fan blade can detach from the motor shaft, which can result in the fan slowing down or stopping. This may lead to overheating and melting of the enclosure and internal parts.
The melted internal parts can potentially ignite and breach the enclosure if the thermal cut-off or fuse fails to activate, which poses a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries.
Vornado describes the defect on its own recall page:
“Vornado is voluntarily recalling all units of the SRTH Small Room Tower Heater because the heater’s fan blade can detach from the motor shaft, which can cause a slow or stopped fan condition, leading to overheating and melting of the enclosure and internal parts. Melted internal parts can ignite and breach the enclosure if the thermal cut off or fuse does not timely activate, posing a fire hazard.”
What is the Risk?
The potential consequences of a heater fire include burn injuries, smoke inhalation, property damage, or even death.
Which Products Are Affected?
The recalled tower heaters can be identified by the following information:
- Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater — black
- Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater — white
- Dimensions: about 12.5 inches high by 6 inches in diameter
- Two heat settings (low and high) plus a fan only/no heat setting
- “Vornado” with a “V” behind it printed on the front of the unit
- “TYPE SRTH” printed on the silver rating label on the bottom
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled Vornado SRTH tower heaters were sold at Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and ACE Hardware stores nationwide, and online at Vornado.com and Amazon.com, from August 2013 through May 2026. All of these retailers have stores in Texas.
The CPSC is urging customers to stop using the recalled heaters. For refund instructions, visit the CPSC recall notice or Vornado’s Vornado recall registration page.
How Many People Were Affected?
Vornado has confirmed 32 reports of overheating from fan blade displacement, including 8 reports of fires and 1 report of smoke inhalation. No deaths have been reported.
With approximately 255,000 units sold over nearly 13 years and major Texas retail distribution, the actual number of Vornado SRTH heater fires could be higher than what has been officially reported. If you believe a Vornado tower heater started a fire in your home or burned you or a family member, our lawyers may be able to help.
Vornado’s Pattern of Heater Recalls
The SRTH recall is not Vornado’s first space heater fire problem. In January 2025, Vornado recalled its VH2 Whole Room Heater. The company also recalled its VH101 Personal Heater in 2018, its Vornadobaby Sunny CS Nursery Heater in 2018, and its VH110 Whole Room Heater in 2014.
