Target Recalls $5 Blender Bottles for Injury Hazard

In April 2025, Target and Sakar International issued a Safety Recall for about 199,000 Vivitar Blender Bottles that pose a laceration hazard.

The blenders were recalled due to a risk of laceration injuries (cuts) from the blender blades, which may not turn off when the bottle is disconnected from the base.

What is the Problem?

No injuries were reported, but one consumer said they were able to remove the bottle from the base while the blades were engaged. According to the Safety Recall:

“The blender’s blades can continue to operate when the bottle is not attached to the blender, posing a laceration hazard.  There have been no reported injuries and less than 900 units were sold to consumers.”

Was My Blender Recalled?

The recall involves Vivitar Blender Bottles, which were sold for about $5 at Target stores nationwide in December 2024 and January 2025.

The bottles are made of clear plastic and have a white plastic base with a white top.

There is a sticker located under the white plastic base of the bottle with the information: “VIVITAR,” “Description: Blender Bottle,” “ITEM: ES15-BB-TA” and “MID #5220824.”

“MID #5220824″is also stamped on the underside of the white plastic base.

What Are Vivitar Blenders?

The recall involves Vivitar Blenders, which are handheld blenders that are made for small individual-size servings of food, like smoothies.

The product consists of a clear plastic bottle and a white plastic base. The bottle can be attached or detached from the white plastic base. The base has a power switch to control the blender blades, which spin rapidly to blend up food when the bottle is connected to the base.

What Should I Do?

Customers should immediately stop using the recalled blenders and contact Sakar International for instructions on how to get a $5 gift card to Target. The recalled blenders should NOT be returned to Target.

The recalled blender must be returned to Sakar to get a $5 Target gift card. Contact Sakar at 800-592-9541, email support@sakar.com or https://www.vivitar.com/pages/recalls for more information.
