VIVI E-Bike Battery Recall

In July 2025, VIVI recall about 24,000 lithium-ion batteries for e-bikes due to a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries. No injuries were reported, but there were 14 incidents, including 3 fires.

What Happened?

VIVI said it was “aware of 14 reports of incidents of batteries overheating, including three reports of fires.” The defective lithium-ion batteries present a risk of serious burn injuries and deaths, but no injuries were reported when the recall was announced in July 2025.

What E-Bikes Were Recalled?

The recall involves e-bike batteries, specifically 36-Volt rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that were included with certain VIVI e-bikes that were sold between December 2020 and November 2023.

These e-bikes have “VIVI” on the downtube. The model number is printed on the sales order document, and it may also be printed on the bicycle frame. The battery model number is on the battery itself.

VIVI is a company based in China that sold low-cost e-bikes nationwide in the U.S. through websites, including amazon.com, walmart.com, ebay.com, viviebikes.com, wish.com, sears.com, wayfair.com and aliexpress.com, and other websites online.
