Vitamix Blender Recall
In June 2024, Vitamix re-announced and expanded a recall for about 580,000 blending bowls and cups for certain Vitamix Venturist and Vitamix Ascent Blenders due to an injury hazard.
What is the Problem?
The blending containers can separate from the blade base, exposing the blades, which poses a laceration hazard. The recall involves about 569,000 blending containers and bowls, including those that were previously recalled in 2018 and repaired, after more people were cut.
How Many People Were Injured?
Vitamix said it received 27 reports of lacerations (cuts), including 11 reports from the prior 2018 recall, when consumers’ hands came in contact with exposed blades.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled blender parts were sold nationwide at Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy’s, Target, Williams Sonoma, Walmart, other stores and. online from April 2017 through May 2024.
How To Identify Recalled Blender Parts
The recall involves all Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce blending containers, 20-ounce blending containers, and blade bases, including those that were repaired as part of a previous recall in August 2018.
The parts were included with certain Vitamix Venturist and Ascent Series blenders, such as the Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, Ascent A2500, Ascent A3300, and Ascent A3500 blenders; and also sold separately, as sets, or bundles in various configurations.
Vitamix Blenders Were Originally Recalled in 2018
The original recall was announced by Vitamix on August 9, 2018 for certain Ascent™ and Venturist™ Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers.
At the time, there were 11 reports of lacerations when consumers’ hands came into contact with the exposed blades.
Vitamix urged customers to immediately stop using the recalled blending containers and bowls and contact Vitamix for a free repair kit. Unfortunately, injuries continued to be reported after the blenders were repaired, which prompted Vitamix to recall these products again.
What Should I Do?
Vitamix is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled blender parts and contact the company for a new repair kit, which will consist of a protective plastic shroud to attach over the blade base, as well as additional instruction labels.
