Swurfer Baby & Toddler Swing Recall
May 14, 2020 — FlyBar Inc., the company that owns the Swurfer® brand, announced a recall for about 3,000 Swurfer Kiwi Baby and Toddler Swings due to a fall hazard.
What is the Problem?
All four ropes on the Kiwi baby swing have a plastic stopper at the end of the rope to secure it to the swing. Unfortunately, customers have complained that the plastic stopper loosened or detached from the swing. If this happens, the rope can detach from the swing, according to a recall notice on the Swurfer website.
Swurfer said it has not received any reports of injuries, but there have been 6 reports of the rope-end detaching from the swing.
What Baby Swings Were Recalled?
The recall involves Swurfer Kiwi Baby and Toddler Swings in green, blue and pink. The swing attaches to a swing set or a tree branch.
FlyBar, Inc. and Kiwi Swing SSW-0005 are printed on the underside of the swing. The manufacture date code of August 2019 is embossed on the back of the swing.
The recalled baby swings were sold for about $80 online at Swurfer.com, FlyBar.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and at independent stores nationwide from October 2019 to March 2020.
What Should I Do?
The manufacturer is asking consumers to immediately stop using the swing and contact Swurfer for instructions on how to repair the swing.
There are pictures of how to fix the swing on the Swurfer website. The repair involves pulling 6″ of rope through the swing, tying an overhand knot in the rope, tightening the knot, and repeating these steps on the remaining 3 ropes.
