What Did the CPSC Find About Sperax Walking Pads?

In April 2026, the CPSC warned consumers to immediately stop using Sperax walking pads and treadmills, citing fall, burn, and fire hazards. The agency found that the products can suddenly and unexpectedly change speeds or come to an abrupt stop, causing users to lose their balance and fall.

The CPSC issued a safety warning (rather than a formal recall) because the importer, Quanzhou Wentelai Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd., d/b/a Sperax, refused to agree to an acceptable recall.

The company also formally objected to the CPSC’s press release. The CPSC published the warning anyway, citing the unreasonable risk of injury to consumers.

The affected models are Pro, Q1, RM-01, and RM-02. They are all are black with red trim, and the model number appears on a label near the power switch. The products were sold exclusively online through Amazon.com, Walmart.com, NewEgg.com, and eBay.com.

How Many People Were Injured by Sperax Products?

As of April 16, 2026, the CPSC documented 201 reports of uncontrollable speed, abrupt stops, and other stability-related failures. Those reports resulted in at least 66 confirmed falls or injuries, including at least one concussion that required medical attention.

Separately, the CPSC also received 573 reports of overheating, fires, and other thermal incidents involving the same products, including 4 reports of minor burns.

These are documented reports only. Because no formal recall has been issued, it is possible that some people who were hurt may not know their injury is connected to a known safety hazard.

Were Sperax Walking Pads Sold in Texas?

Yes. Sperax walking pads and treadmills were sold exclusively through online platforms — Amazon, Walmart, NewEgg, and eBay.

Because the products were sold online with no geographic limitation, any Texan who purchased a Sperax Pro, Q1, RM-01, or RM-02 walking pad or treadmill may own one of the hazardous products.

The popularity of under-desk walking pads in Texas homes and offices has grown significantly in recent years. Many consumers purchased Sperax walking pads for home use, remote work setups, and personal fitness.

What Should Texas Consumers Do Now?

The CPSC is urging all consumers to stop using the affected Sperax walking pads and treadmills immediately and to dispose of them. Unlike a standard product recall, there is no remedy or refund being offered through the company. The CPSC is specifically advising consumers not to sell or give away these products, as doing so would expose another person to the same hazard.

Texas consumers who were injured can report their experience to the CPSC directly at SaferProducts.gov. Documenting the incident with the CPSC creates an official record and may be relevant to a legal claim.

Can Texans File a Lawsuit Against Sperax?

Texas consumers who were injured after a Sperax walking pad or treadmill suddenly stopped or changed speed may be entitled to compensation under Texas product liability law.

Claims could potentially be brought against the importer and potentially against the online platforms — Amazon, Walmart, NewEgg, and eBay — through which the product was sold.

The importer’s documented refusal to recall the product, combined with the CPSC’s 201 incident reports, provides a factual foundation for legal claims. Time limits apply to product liability claims under Texas law, so injured consumers should not wait to speak with a Texas injury lawyer.
