2.2 Million Stanley, DeWALT, Craftsman Sledgehammers Recalled
In April 2023, Stanley Black & Decker issued a recall for more than 2.2 million DeWALT®, Stanley FATMAX®, and Craftsman® Fiberglass Sledgehammers after people were injured when the head broke off and hit them in the face.
There were 192 reports of the sledgehammer head loosening, detaching, or breaking off during use. Two people were injured when they were hit in the head or face by the broken sledgehammer’s head. The problem poses an “impact injury hazard to the user,” the recall warns.
