CPSC Warns Consumers About Sekaer Electric Kettles

In June 2026, the CPSC issued a warning about Sekaer Electric Kettles after dozens of people were burned when the kettles pressurized and suddenly released hot steam or liquid unexpectedly.

According to the warning:

“The kettles can pressurize and release hot steam or liquid unexpectedly, posing a risk of serious injury or death from burn hazard. CPSC urges consumers to stop using the kettles immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous kettles.”

Can I Get a Refund?

No. The manufacturer is not offering a refund or cooperating with a recall. This is a Product Safety Warning, not a recall. The CPSC said: “The Chinese seller, Sekaer Store, has been unresponsive to CPSC’s requests for a recall of these kettles.”

What Is the Burn Hazard?

Sekaer Electric Kettles are travel-sized, stainless-steel water boilers that are used to heat up water for making tea, coffee, other drinks, or even instant noodles and other foods that require hot water. According to the CPSC, the problem is that the kettle can build up pressure and then vent hot steam or liquid without warning, spraying scalding water onto anyone close by.

The burn hazard from this product is very serious. second-degree burn damages the top two layers of skin and is very painful. It can produce blistering, swelling, intense redness and a shiny, moist appearance. The healing process can take weeks.

Even more severe is a third-degree burn. It destroys all layers of skin and may even damage the fatty-tissue underneath the skin. It can destroy nerve endings, require skin graft surgery, and result in permanent scarring and disfigurement.

Sekaer portable electric kettles can be identified by the following information:

• Travel-size, stainless-steel water boilers with 330, 380, 400 or 500 mL capacities
• Available in black, white, green, white with gold, black with gold or gray with silver
• The Sekaer logo printed on the front of the kettle
• Model number SY-618, SKE-833, SKE-840 or SKE-850 on the product packaging

Where Were They Sold?

Sekaer kettles were sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, eBay.com and Sears.com. They were shipped to unsuspecting consumers nationwide. If you have one of these kettles at home, the CPSC urges you to stop using it and dispose of it. Do not sell or give it away.
