True Sea Moss Gel Superfood Recalled for Botulism Risk
In January 2026, the Los Angeles-based company Diva Fam recalled all lots and flavors of True Sea Moss Gel Superfood due to a risk of botulism and other types of food poisoning. No illnesses were reported, but manufacturing problems could result in contamination.
What is the Problem?
There were no reports of botulism or other illnesses in the recall announcement for True Sea Moss Gel Superfood.
Instead, the problem was discovered during an inspection of the company’s manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, California.
Diva Fam said it issued the recall “due to lack of required regulatory authorization and temperature monitoring records for pH-controlled food products.”
What is the Risk?
Sea Moss Gel Superfood could be contaminated with the bacteria that causes botulism, Clostridium botulinum. This bacteria may not be killed if the product is not properly sterilized during manufacturing.
According to the safety warning published by the FDA:
“PH-controlled food products that are not manufactured in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements may present a potential risk of microbial growth, including organisms that can produce toxins associated with botulism.”
How Do I Check If My Product Was Recalled?
The recalled product was sold under the True Sea Moss® brand-name at retailers nationwide. It was packaged in a 16-fl-oz. clear glass jar.
The recall involves products that were manufactured before January 9, 2026. This date is on the lid of the glass jar in MM/YYYY format.
