Rowenta Recalled Its X-Force Cordless Vacuums Over a Battery Fire Hazard
In July 2026, Rowenta recalled roughly 3,660 cordless vacuum cleaners due to a risk of battery fires.
The problem is that the vacuum’s removable lithium-ion battery, which sits inside the handle, can potentially catch on fire. The CPSC warned:
“The recalled lithium-ion battery in the vacuum cleaner can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards.”
How Many Incidents Were Reported?
Rowenta has received 2 reports of the battery overheating or not charging, along with 65 additional reports globally. No injuries have been reported so far, but the fire hazard is serious.
Why Is a Lithium-Ion Vacuum Battery So Dangerous?
Lithium-ion batteries pack a lot of energy into a small product. When a battery cell is defective, it can overheat and enter “thermal runaway.” This is a fast, self-feeding reaction that can turn into a fire within seconds. Because this battery is built into the handle, a failure can happen while the vacuum is being held or while it is charging.
Which Rowenta Vacuums Are Affected?
The recall covers two vacuum models (RH99A2U1 and RH99F2U1). These vacuums were sold in red, black and silver. You can find the model number and date code on the back of the battery. The recall includes:
- X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal — model number RH99A2U1
- X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal — model number RH99F2U1
- Versatile X-Force lithium-ion battery — model ZR0097U2, date code starting with 23 or 24 (made before December 2024)
Where Were They Sold in Texas?
The vacuums were sold at Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel stores, both of which have locations in Texas. They were also sold online at Rowenta.com, Shopify.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com from July 2023 through January 2026 for between $250 and $550.
The CPSC advises owners to stop using the vacuum and take the battery out of the handle. Consumers can register for a free replacement battery on the company’s recall page or by calling Rowenta at 800-769-3682.
Legal Help for Texans Injured by Lithium-Ion Battery Fires
Lithium-ion battery fires have become one of the fastest-growing home and property hazards in Texas, from e-bikes and scooters to cordless tools and household appliances. A cordless vacuum that ignites while charging can damage a home and seriously burn whoever is nearby.
When a manufacturer sells a product with a battery that can overheat and ignite, Texas law may hold that company responsible for the resulting harm. Injured Texans may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
A Texas product liability lawyer can review what happened and explain your options. Do not wait, because time limits apply to these claims.
