Robitussin Cough Syrup Recalled for Fungal Infection Risk

In January 2024, three types of Robitussin Cough Syrup were recalled due to dangerously high levels of yeast fungus in the honey ingredient, which could result in life-threatening fungal infections.

What is the Problem?

The recall involves certain bottles of Robitussin Honey Cold & Flu Max Adult Cough Syrup. No infections were reported in the recall announcement, but the honey may be contaminated with yeast.

Health Risks of Using Recalled Bottles of Robitussin

People with vulnerable immune systems who use the recalled batches of Robitussin Cough Syrup could develop “severe or life-threatening adverse events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection.”
